Do you want your dog to sit, stay, shake or stop using your expensive oriental rug to hide his little “gifts”? Read through this article to find tips that will help you accomplish those things you are having issues with. You may even teach him to clean up those accidents he did not mean to have.CLICK HERE

“Everything I know I learned from dogs.” – Nora Roberts

If you have gotten a new dog or puppy, you should work on training them right away. If they are going to be indoor dogs, you can start crate training them . This prevents bathroom accidents or your items being chewed on. Start off with the right sized crate, so that they have enough room in the crate to move around a bit.

Provide your puppy with his own chew toys to alleviate the pain of teething, and try to keep other items out of reach. Give it one of his toys instead. If painful teething is the problem, let the puppy chew on a wet washcloth that has been frozen.

Your friends and family, in most cases, are not dog trainers. While those around you may have advice and opinions on how you should handle your dog’s training, it does not mean they are correct. This input may be well-meaning, however, you can ignore most of it if you have taken the time to do your homework.

House training your puppy can be a lot faster and more effective using a crate. The crate should never be used for punishment. CHECK OUT The puppy should be put in it at night and in between times of interaction with his owner. His natural instinct is to not relieve himself in his sleeping area.

If your dog does not seem to be responding to your training, make an appointment with your vet. If your dog is not learning properly, it does not mean they are dumb. Sometimes physical and occasionally mental maladies could cause your dog to not respond properly to training. Your vet may be able to give you some indication to the problem.

Focus on your body language when training. Dogs respond much easier to non-verbal cues. Pay attention to how they respond to different actions and facial expressions that you make to learn what affect they have on them. Keep your words short and too the point and reinforce it with bodily actions.

It’s essential that you understand that you must be firm with your dog when you are in training mode. You should not be yelling at your dog all the time. Be strict only when your dog disobeys or adopts an attitude you do not approve of. Maintaining a proper balance ensures that the relationship between you and your dog is strong.

Most dogs respond better to positive reinforcement rather than negative punishment. If you’re trying to train your dog, reward him for good behavior and only scold him if absolutely necessary. Your dog will remember the reward for good behavior more distinctly than the punishment for bad behavior, making rewarding more effective.

Start training your dog early. Many people believe that very young puppies are too young to learn. The reality is that even puppies as young as six weeks old are able to begin the basics of training, and starting early ensures that your puppy will have a strong foundation for more advanced training later.

When your dog does not do what you want, tell him “No!” then redirect him. Be patient and calm. Your dog wants to please you, but sometimes dogs just don’t understand what is expected of them. Never hit or yell at your dog. If you yell and hit, your dog will just think you are out of control. You want your dog to trust you and respect you as the pack leader, so stay calm and consistent.

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”– Orhan Pamuk

Wait 10 to 15 minutes after a puppy eats or drinks before you take them out to go potty. Usually, a puppy has to go in a very short time after eating and drinking. To help minimize accidents in between the time you take them outside, remember that puppies do not require a full bowl of water. If you control how much you give them, then you will be in control of training them when they need to relieve themselves.

Get your dog to stop chewing undesirable objects by offering him interesting alternatives. There is an endless variety of chew toys available at any pet store or department store. Get a basket and put “his” toys inside and keep it full of fun playthings. Hopefully, he will learn to prefer his own toys to yours!

When deciding to train your dog, make sure that you have patience towards your pet. All dogs are unique and learn at different paces. To be effective in training your pooch, make sure you have the patience to see it through. Treat your dog with kindness even if he or she may try your patience. CLICK HERE

Your dog should know how to “sit” like he knows the back of his paw! The “sit” command is useful for a multitude of reasons, and is a behavior that can be built upon. Use a “sit” gesture that is intuitive for his body – in other words, he should always be looking up at your hand, which will help him sit instinctively.

Use the clicker method for training your dog. Clicker training is a form of conditioning that can help a dog to identify behavior that produces praise or a reward. After your dog has successfully obeyed a command, use the clicker to indicate that he will get a treat. Your dog will soon learn if he isn’t following commands or behaving correctly! Certain studies have shown that using a clicker reduces training time by one third.

A good dog training tip is to be consistent with the words you use when you communicate with your dog. English is a foreign language to dogs and they’re constantly trying to decipher what you’re saying. By being consistent with your words, your dog will be more likely to learn.

When training a dog, rewards are much more effective than punishment. Use low calorie treats or pieces of boiled chicken to reward good behavior. Once the dog has learned the behavior you’re trying to encourage, you only need to reward with treats occasionally. Always reward with praise and affection!

When training your pooch, patience is a virtue. All dogs learn at their own pace, and getting frustrated with your pet often adds to the dog’s confusion. Avoid punishing your dog for misbehavior and offer rewards for good behavior instead. Dogs love treats, but you can also reinforce the desired behavior with love and affection.

Have the right equipment and use it properly. Learn how to put on a chain or nylon slip collar and use a standard 6 foot leash for most training. Do not yank or pull on the leash. Just give a quick tug and release when the dog ignores a command to come or heel. Soon just wearing the collar will be enough to remind the dog that you are the one in charge of the training session, and very few corrections should be needed.

Dogs have to listen to their owners. Everything you just read is appropriate for use in training your dog to be a better and more obedient member of the family. Training takes time and consistency so do not get discouraged if your dog does not pick things up as quickly as you want them to. If you want a dog that listens you must be consistent with them.
